Road accidents continue to make victims in the wilaya of Béjaïa. As soon as Monday, a 65-year-old man lost his life in an accident in Tizi El-Qorne, in the commune of Aït R’zine (daïra of Ighil-Ali). According to civil protection, the victim died following the overthrow of a semi-trailer truck. His body was transferred to the morgue of the Akloul-Ali hospital in Akbou.
The same tragic observation was noted last Sunday on the RN 09, at a place called Amtik Ouzebouch, in the commune of Darguina, where two men of approximately forty years, unidentified, died after the overthrow of their vehicle registered in Mila.
These two dramas are added to those recorded in the previous days. One week marked by an increase in accidents: 42 claims identified, making 61 injured. Added to this is the death of another driver, struck by a train, after a collision which occurred near the EPH of Tazmalt.
According to statistics communicated by the security of wilaya, 29 road accidents were recorded during the month of July, causing a death and four injured.
As part of the prevention and repression of traffic offenses, the police have drawn up 6,564 lump sum fines, including 709 against motorcycle drivers, often pinned for dangerous driving, non-port of helmet, reckless maneuvers and absence of identity papers of the vehicle.
A total of 14,413 vehicles were checked by the police, including 2,931 motorcycles. These checks led to the impoundment of 55 vehicles and 1,519 two-wheelers. In addition, 30 mobile radar control operations were carried out on the high -speed roads of the wilaya to punish speeding and other risky behaviors.
The urban planning and environmental protection (PUPE) was also active during the month of July. She dealt with 22 cases related to illicit constructions, 16 of which were transmitted to justice. As part of the fight against informal trade, 270 interventions were carried out, leading to the seizure of several quintals of fruits and vegetables. 45 files were referred to the competent jurisdictions.
Regarding the obstruction of the public road, 30 interventions were carried out, mainly for illegal deposits of bulky materials and objects, with 10 cases transmitted to justice. In parallel, 7 operations were carried out against clandestine slaughter and the sale of spoiled meats, both red and white.
Finally, police services received 21,838 telephone calls on their emergency numbers and green lines. Among these, 126 calls concerned reports of crimes and crimes, 6,884 requests for information or orientation, and 114 were linked to road accidents or to discover corpses. There is also a report of the disappearance of a minor, and 14,713 other communications for various reasons.
