More than 62,000 prisoners will benefit from professional training in several specialties in 2024

More than 62,000 prisoners benefited this year from professional training leading to diplomas in different specialties, including agriculture, said last Tuesday in Algiers the Director General of the Prison and Reintegration Administration, Said Zreb.
In his speech at the opening of the 7th National Colloquium on “Agricultural Activity in Prisons” at the National Institute for Agricultural Extension (INVA) which will run until July 11 in Algiers, he specified that more than 62,000 prisoners had the opportunity to follow professional training in different specialties, adding that 12,483 prisoners followed training in the agricultural sector, with 18 specialties.
This training enabled 4,799 prisoners to benefit from jobs during the 2023 agricultural season, including 3,740 prisoners employed in open-environment establishments and 1,059 in agricultural workshops adjoining penitentiary establishments.n
