SILA-2025
The 28th edition of the Algiers International Book Fair (SILA 2025), organized from October 29 to November 8, recorded an attendance of “more than 6.2 million visitors,” the Fair Commission said in a press release yesterday, Sunday. The 28th edition of SILA, whose activities ended on Saturday at the Palais des Expositions des Pins maritimes (Safex), recorded an “exceptional attendance amounting to 6,241,718” visitors, with “a peak on November 6 having reached 850,914 visitors”, specified the press release. The Commission estimated that these figures “reflect the place that the book occupies within Algerian society” and confirm “the growing importance of this cultural event on the national scene,” adding that “the Salon is one of the largest cultural events in Algeria, the Arab world and Africa and constitutes an open space for intellectual dialogue and the exchange of human and creative experiences.”
The 28th edition of SILA, organized under the patronage of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, was held under the slogan “The book, crossroads of cultures”, with the participation of 1,254 publishing houses from 49 countries, including Mauritania, as guest of honor.n
