Several strategic projects intended to boost the development of the wilaya of Constantine were launched this Thursday by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who paid a visit to the capital of the east of the country.
Thousands of citizens flocked to downtown Constantine, where they gave the President of the Republic a warm popular welcome, welcoming him and expressing their gratitude for the important projects that their wilaya has benefited from in various areas.
The President of the Republic began his visit by laying the first stone of a new University Hospital Center (CHU) with a capacity of 500 beds, which extends over a total area of 20 hectares and includes 24 hospital services covering several medical specialties, as well as an educational pavilion with a capacity of 1000 places.
After listening to the explanations presented on the project, the President of the Republic underlined the need to move towards the creation of health centers offering cutting-edge medical services with a view to strengthening the national health system.
“Algeria has great potential and enjoys credibility, which has led many developed countries in the medical field to demonstrate their desire to cooperate with it,” said the President of the Republic, stressing the importance of “training doctors in cutting-edge specialties, graduates of Algerian universities.”
The President of the Republic then proceeded to lay the first stone of the project to create a sports complex which includes a football field with a capacity of 30,000 seats and two training fields, as well as an accommodation infrastructure with a capacity of 60 rooms, integrated into the stadium, in addition to an Olympic swimming pool.
The project also includes a sports hall with a capacity of 2,000 seats, three tennis courts, a parking lot with a capacity of 3,500 vehicles and an energy center.
The President of the Republic also inaugurated a new drug production complex specializing in sprays for respiratory diseases, ENT drugs, soft capsules and anti-cancer drugs.
The complex covers an area of 27,000 square meters and offers more than 500 jobs.
At the Sissaoui Urban Pole, the President of the Republic laid the first stone of the project to create 8,050 rental-purchase housing units (AADL 3 program) and 6,800 LPL for the benefit of the commune of Constantine.
The President of the Republic also followed a report on the modernization plan for the old town of Constantine and the development projects currently being implemented, as well as a presentation concerning the housing sector at the local level and the related digitalization process.
He also inaugurated the road linking the RN3 to the East-West motorway.
Before beginning the program of his working and inspection visit to the wilaya, the President of the Republic paid tribute to the memory of the scholar Abdelhamid Ben Badis, and met his grandchildren.
At the end of his visit, the President of the Republic met civil society actors in the wilaya of Constantine, whose concerns and proposals he listened to regarding supporting the State’s efforts in promoting development in the wilaya.
On this occasion, the President of the Republic underlined his concern to “find a balance between university graduates and areas of investment, which has opened the way for start-ups”.
The State resolutely continues its efforts in favor of progress and development, in accordance with the expectations of citizens, affirmed the President of the Republic, stressing that “defeatist speeches no longer have their place” in the face of a tangible reality felt by all Algerians.
