In December, from Saturday 6 to Monday 8, Algiers will host a major African economic event organized by the Ministry of the Knowledge Economy, Start-ups and Micro-enterprises: the 4th edition of the African Start-up Conference, which will take place at the Abdelatif Rahal International Conference Center (CIC), placed under the patronage of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. Placed under the theme “For the emergence of African champions”, it will see the presence of a significant number of visitors and participants, including 300 international experts, 150 investors, 200 exhibitors, as well as 40 ministerial delegations.
In this regard, the Minister of the Knowledge Economy, Start-ups and Micro-enterprises, Noureddine Ouadah, affirmed on Thursday that this Conference “constitutes a strategic platform” capable of building an ecosystem conducive to innovation on the continent.
During a press conference dedicated to the presentation of the details of this new edition, he specified that this continental event will reaffirm Algeria’s commitment to supporting innovation and entrepreneurship on an African scale.
This event is intended to be a space bringing together Governments, investors, incubators and project leaders, in order to promote cooperation, the exchange of experiences and the development of ambitious policies supporting innovation and entrepreneurship on the African continent.
“Rigorous” criteria were adopted in the selection of exhibitors, in order to guarantee the quality of the event, which will offer participants opportunities to access African and global markets, as well as the possibility of obtaining international financing, said the minister, adding that the main indicator of success of this edition will be the volume of investments announced.
Stressing that this new edition comes following the “great success” of the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF-2025),
Mr. Ouadah noted that Algeria intends, through this conference, to consolidate its place as a key player in the development of a continental economy based on knowledge and technology. The program of this event includes several activities, including scientific conferences, specialized round tables around research, innovation, content creation, fintech and Artificial Intelligence, as well as an exhibition dedicated to promoting the potential of African youth in the field of innovation.
Rwanda will be the guest of honor of this edition, given “its leadership in the field of digital innovation”, according to
Mr. Ouadah, who considered that the African Conference of Start-ups reflects “the collective ambition to build a solid and interconnected African system based on innovation”.
On this occasion, the minister welcomed the creation of the Financing Fund for Start-ups and innovative young people in Africa, at the level of the Algerian Agency for International Cooperation for Solidarity and Development, by decision of the President of the Republic, recently announced at the closing of the 4th edition of the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF-2025). In this context, 30 Algerian start-ups and other African countries, having taken part in the IATF, will be financed during the 4th edition of the African Start-up Conference, indicated Mr. Ouadah who reported the adoption of a common road map between his ministerial department and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, as well as the Algerian Agency for International Cooperation for Solidarity and development, in order to ensure the effective and efficient implementation of this decision and monitor its results on the ground. As part of the training and financing program for African students enrolled in Algerian universities, an event will be dedicated to them during the African Start-up Conference, as part of “efforts aimed at strengthening the entrepreneurial spirit and transferring expertise within the African space,” adds the minister. Africa is experiencing a profound transformation, driven by a new generation of ambitious and visionary entrepreneurs. It is in this context that the African Startup Conference was created, as a continental platform dedicated to innovation, entrepreneurship and technology.
