Laïd Rebiga on the occasion of National Memory Day

The Minister of Mujahideen and Rights Holders, Laïd Rebiga, called, Wednesday, from Béjaïa, for perseverance and the continuation of efforts in terms of valorizing the elements of national memory and consolidating the components of the rooted national identity. “The Algerian people have endured ordeals of unparalleled cruelty and intensity, and their struggle against colonialism has never ceased since the latter set foot on the soil of this pure land. He was the victim of all kinds of crimes, ranging from attacks on his dignity to the confiscation of his fundamental rights, including the attempt to alienate his identity and his civilizational foundations,” he said. Stressing that these practices will forever remain a mark of infamy in the history of their authors.
Presiding over the celebrations commemorating the National Memory Day (May 8 each year), at the historic place called ”Chaabet El Akhra” in the commune of Kheratta in Béjaïa, Laïd Rebiga, affirmed that the preservation of memory nationality constituted a sacred duty and one of the components of national identity.
“The President of the Republic places major interest in the issue of memory so that values ​​remain present in minds, with their dimensions and their meanings,” said the Minister of Mujahideen and Rights Holders.
Greeting the inhabitants of this historic wilaya, its Mujahideen and the children of its Chouhada, Laïd Rebiga pointed out that the future equation of existence in the context of the current complex situation, is based on the rebirth of man and on his preparation based on authentic visions from which it draws national values ​​and principles, with the aim of achieving an informed prospective vision, to serve the homeland. Stressing, in passing, that this insightful vision established the rule of law, and brought together the conditions for economic recovery and social development through clear strategies and programs, serving the citizen, which are currently being implemented, rigorously, across the country.
Noting that all this emanates from loyalty to the values ​​of our national memory, the Minister of Mujahideen and Rights Holders recalled the ordeals endured.
“This ordeal constituted the last referendum where the people decided to access their freedom and determine their destiny,” continued the Minister of Mujahideen and Rights Holders.
Previously, the national flag was, on this occasion, hoisted, the Fatiha recited and a wreath of flowers laid at the historic site ”Chaabet El Akhra” which, 79 years ago, was the scene of one of the crimes odious crimes perpetrated by the French colonizer against the Algerians, where hundreds of them were executed.
