Urban planning Acceleration of investments

Accompanied by the Minister of National Education, Mohamed Seghir Saâdaoui, the Minister of Housing, Urban Planning, the City and Urban Development, Mohamed Tarek Belaribi, chaired a meeting yesterday Sunday at the headquarters of the National Housing Bank, devoted to the evaluation of the 2025-2026 school year and the preparation of the 2026-2027 school year. During a speech delivered to those present, the Minister of Housing highlighted, yesterday Sunday in Algiers, the most important aspects of the recent finance laws relating to public infrastructure. “These laws demonstrate a clear increase in investments in the education sector, from 2020 to 2026. This reflects the scale of these investments and illustrates a real commitment to improving the education system and providing educational establishments with adequate infrastructure,” observed the Minister of Housing. These figures, added Tarek Belaribi, “confirm this dynamic, since 677 educational establishments were registered between 2020 and 2024. This was followed by the planning of 224 additional educational establishments in 2025 and 330 establishments in the 2026 budget,” he declared.
According to the Minister, a more in-depth analysis of these figures revealed that the total number of educational establishments registered between 2025 and 2026, i.e. 554, represents more than 80% of the number of establishments registered during the five years between 2020 and 2024. This underlines the significant attention given by the highest authorities of the country to the issue of educational infrastructure,” recalled the Minister through his speech. This increase in the number of public educational establishments registered in accordance with financial legislation has been accompanied by an acceleration in the pace of equipment delivery. Between 2020 and 2024, 620 pieces of equipment were delivered, including 322 for the year 2025 alone. This count shows that the number of educational establishments delivered in 2025 represents more than 50% of those delivered over the full five years (from 2020 to 2024). “This confirms, once again, the acceleration of progress on the ground,” will proudly say the Minister of Housing, Tarek Belaribi. It should be remembered that last September, the latter announced an increase in investments in the education sector in Algeria, in particular with the receipt of 322 new educational structures for the start of the school year, representing a public investment of 94 billion dinars. According to the Minister of Housing, these infrastructures aim to improve schooling conditions, particularly in new residential areas.
