According to the press release dated yesterday, emanating from the managers of the communication cell of the Department of Distribution of Electricity and Gas (ex Sonelgaz) of the wilaya of Oum El-Bouaghi, Ms. N. Benzlikha who affirms that the direction of Sonelgaz of Oum el-Bouaghi sounds the alarm and this, despite the supported efforts to offer high quality services customers. It faces a staggering debt that weakens and threatens its financial balance.
Indeed, the total amount of debts now amounts to 6887108906.15 DA, including 5,5746396777.28 DA, or 80.97% of unpaid invoices by subscribers then come the municipalities 7.67%, administrations and public and private institutions almost 5% and debts related to the work 6.5% distributed over 7 commercial agencies in the Wilaya Fakroun, Ain M’lila, Ain Beida, Oum El-Bouaghi Ain Kercha Souk Naamane and Meskiana. The same official underlined that the phenomenon of aggressions on electricity networks has grown to the activity of the management of Sonelgaz of Oum el-Bouaghi and this despite the awareness campaigns on this real flight scourge which damages the equipment and can cause short circuits and fires as well as electrocution and which constitutes a danger on the safety of people. Thus during the period of January 2025 at the end of August 2025 the Sonelgaz D, Oum El Bouaghi recorded 669 cases of electricity theft evaluated at 10094298 kWh which aggravates the financial situation of the company which becomes very disturbing on its budget. Faced with this situation, regulatory procedures were started against fraudsters at the level of the services concerned.
Taking into account the above, the administration of Sonelgaz d’Oum El Bouaghi invites subscribers, administrations as well as public and private companies to pay their debts through commercial agencies and by electronic payment via bank cards and CCP, or with electronic payment www.sonelgaz.dz and that since July 2025, El-Bouaghi also introduced a new payment service with the EDAHABIA or CIB card via the Baridi MOB application without moving and safe.
Also within the framework of continuity of the recovery system for the Sonelgaz of Oum El-Bouaghi Sonelgaz always grants payment facilities to creditors to honor their debts according to a calendar (payment schedule) established in mutual agreement, failing which regulatory measures will be taken against the bad payers. Finally, the Department of Distribution of Electricity and Gas of Oum El-Bouaghi estimates that only cooperation between its commercial agencies and users will guarantee sustainable and reliable energy.
