The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, received, this Sunday, Sifi Ghrieb, which he officially confirmed in his functions as Prime Minister. The latter had previously assumed the interim since the end of the mission of Nadir Larbaoui on August 28. According to the press release from the Presidency of the Republic, the Head of State instructed Ghrieb to form a new government.

At the end of his audience with President Tebboune, Sifi Ghrieb reaffirmed his firm commitment to place the citizen at the heart of government action. He stressed the importance of establishing a constructive dialogue with all the components of Algerian society, while emphasizing the need to respond in a concrete and effective way to the legitimate expectations of citizens.

“The President of the Republic gave me all the instructions necessary to ensure the satisfaction of the citizen in the first place, and to raise the national economy to the levels which correspond to the central role of Algeria, both on a regional and international scale,” he said, thus expressing his determination to work for a stronger and more influential Algeria.

The new Prime Minister also highlighted the will of his government to guarantee an active presence on the ground, by advocating local governance. “I reiterate my personal commitment, as well as that of the whole government, to listen to all the fringes of the population and to work, in a concrete way, for the interest of our dear homeland,” he added, highlighting the priority given to inclusive and attentive management of social concerns.

This appointment is part of a clear logic of continuity and refocusing on technical skills. Sifi Ghrieb, currently Minister of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production, is recognized for its sharp expertise in the industrial sector. Holder of a doctorate in physical chemistry of materials from the Badji Mokhtar University of Annaba, he forged his career in national industrial structures.

Before accessing the ministry, he held several key positions, notably that of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Recovery Company, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Algerian Steel Algerian Company (AQS) and CEO of the Training Center for the cement industry, attached to the GICA industrial group. These experiences allowed him to acquire an in -depth knowledge of the challenges and dynamics of the industrial sector.

Since taking office at the Ministry of Industry in November 2024, Sifi Ghrieb has distinguished itself by numerous innovative initiatives. It is notably at the origin of the creation of technological poles specializing in several strategic sectors, such as steel industry, mechanics and the pharmaceutical industry, thus contributing to modernize and diversify the national industrial fabric.

Among its major achievements, is the supervision of the realization of the first oil well using cement produced locally, a project which symbolizes the valuation of Algerian resources and know-how. He also played a key role in the production of the first Algerian marine engine, carried out in collaboration with Serport and the company of Constantine engines, marking a significant advance in the field of local engineering.

In addition, Sifi Ghrieb has initiated a vast approach to modernize the industrial sector by launching a directory of industrial professions, enriched with references for digital skills, as well as a dedicated digital library, thus strengthening the training and adaptation of workers to technological developments.

More recently, in August 2025, he launched a campaign aimed at mobilizing skills, both inside and outside the country, for the creation of a national expertise council dedicated to the development of the automotive industry and the manufacture of spare parts, thus affirming its desire to integrate all the living forces of the nation in the industrial recovery project.
