The Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, Said Sayoud, chaired a coordination meeting with the central executives of his department, devoted to the immediate priorities of sectoral action. This is what a statement from the ministry said this Wednesday.
From the start of his intervention, the minister gave directives in order to “take all measures guaranteeing optimal preparation of the next school year”. He also underlined the importance of “anticipating the risks linked to fall and winter seasons”, by implementing “permanent preventive devices, based on expertise studies and quality standards, and not on simple occasional campaigns”. As such, he recalled “the central role that local assemblies must play”.
The Minister also wanted to recall “the particular attention that the President of the Republic gives to the development of local authorities”. He relayed “his firm instructions with the aim of eliminating persistent dysfunctions in certain territories”, in particular in terms of public services, food in vital networks, urban cleanliness and development of the living environment.
Sayoud has ordered “the development of an action plan allowing a sustainable care of local concerns, the foundation of the well-being and the satisfaction of the citizen”. He also announced “the strengthening of field control, by intensifying inspection and evaluation missions”.
The public service file has occupied a place of choice in its first directives. The Minister called for “redouble their efforts to modernize and continuously improve the benefits offered to citizens”. Regarding public security, he welcomed “the work of safety and gendarmerie services”, while giving new directions to “intensify the fight against crime, in particular drug trafficking, psychotropic substances and criminal networks linked to clandestine migration”.
A separate meeting was also organized at the headquarters of the ministry, in the presence of presidents and director-generalers, directors general of establishments under guardianship and the main executives of the transport sector. This meeting, held in the process of taking office of Sayoud at the head of the ministry in its new configuration, was devoted to examining the current situation and the definition of future action mechanisms.
The Minister praised “the results deemed encouraging in several segments, including maritime, air and rail transport, as well as regular and supported monitoring of land transport”. He called for “maintaining the same rate of effort, by strengthening determination and commitment to achieve the objectives drawn”. In addition, he called for “the adoption of a practical, serious and voluntary approach with the acceleration of work pace and decision -making up to the expectations of citizens”. Giving precise instructions to the present officials, reaffirming them “his confidence in their ability to meet the challenges”. Encouraging collective action and perseverance, the Minister paid tribute to the efforts already deployed by the leaders and executives of the sector, urging them to “redouble a commitment to produce concrete, visible and beneficial results for citizens as well as for the development of the sector”.
