The Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, Saïd Sayoud, proceeded last Thursday to the installation of Hamid Khalfaoui in his functions as wali delegate of the administrative district of Ksar El-Boukhari, in accordance with the partial movement made by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, within the body of walis and walis delegates.
The installation ceremony was held at the headquarters of the wilaya, in the presence of the wali of Médéa, Djillali Doumi, the president of the APW, elected officials from both Chambers, civil and military authorities, members of the revolutionary family as well as representatives of civil society.
In his speech, the minister highlighted the rich natural and heritage potential of the new district of Ksar El-Boukhari, emphasizing its strategic location in the center of the country and its role set to strengthen in the dynamics of local development.
Sayoud underlined the importance of accelerating the pace of projects and strengthening local administrative capacities in order to ensure quality public services and improve the living environment of citizens, in accordance with the guidelines of the President of the Republic aimed at consolidating effective decentralization and promoting good governance.
The minister also recalled that the creation of new administrative districts is part of the strategic vision of the President of the Republic, which is based on a global overhaul of territorial organization and local management, with the aim of enshrining the principles of regional balance and equity in development.
Sayoud also called for close cooperation between elected officials and the administration, in accordance with the instructions of the Head of State, providing constant support to the delegated wali in order to allow the constituency of Ksar El-Boukhari to ultimately be promoted to the rank of wilaya.
On this occasion, the main monographic indicators of the new constituency were recalled. Extending over an area of 4,723.81 km², 150 km from Algiers, it includes six daïras, Ksar El-Boukhari, Chahbounia, Ouled Antar, Aziz, Aïn Boucif and Chellalet El-Adhaoura as well as 21 communes.
Created by Presidential Decree No. 328-19 of December 8, 2019, the district of Ksar El-Boukhari has a population of 353,075 inhabitants, or a density of 75 inhabitants/km², and has a stock of 68,937 housing units. It benefits from numerous socio-economic infrastructures and an important communication network.
The region also offers significant investment opportunities thanks, in particular, to the presence of three industrial zones located in Ksar El-Boukhari and Boughezoul, as well as three activity zones located in Boughezoul, Chahbounia and Ksar El-Boukhari.
