Following the tragedy which shook the town of Aïn Boucif, 85 km south-east of the capital of the wilaya of Médéa, after the death by drowning of 5 students on an excursion to the Promenade des Sablettes, in Algiers, a ministerial commission went this Sunday morning to the Mohammedi-Mohamed school, where the victims came from.

Made up of the central director of education at the Ministry of Education, an advisor from the same department and the director of education of Médéa, the commission inquired about the conditions of care for the students of the establishment .

A team of doctors and psychologists was also mobilized on site to support the students during this period of assessment of their acquired knowledge, following the tragedy which cost the lives of their classmates.

The members of the national commission presented to the families of the victims the condolences of the Minister of National Education who, accompanied by the wali of Médéa, went the day before to the bedside of the other victims placed under medical surveillance at the Mustapha-Bacha University Hospital. Algiers in order to inquire about their state of health and their medical care.

“We hospitalized 3 patients aged 10, 9 and 8 years old. Their condition has improved but after the resuscitation phase, it takes time for them to be referred to another service for additional care. Overall, there is no worsening compared to their admission. Their condition appears stable,” a doctor from CHU Mustapha told the press.

The Minister of National Solidarity, Family and the Status of Women, Kaouter Krikou, also went to the hospital this Sunday to inquire about the state of health of the children still in intensive care.
