Total and free coverage for radiotherapy

Treatment of children with cancer

Children with cancer will now benefit from full, free radiotherapy coverage. The National Social Insurance Fund for Salaried Workers (CNAS) has just signed a framework agreement with several public and private hospital establishments specializing in radiotherapy, spread across six wilayas, namely Tizi Ouzou, Constantine, Oran, Tipaza, Algiers and Blida.
“The realization of the convention relating to the management of radiotherapy for children with cancer, signed yesterday Tuesday in Algiers, constitutes a concrete commitment in accordance with the decisions of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in favor of this category,” affirmed the Minister of Labor, Employment and Social Security, Abdelhak Saihi.
This agreement, underlines the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security, reflects the stated political will of the State to make the national social security system an effective instrument at the service of citizens. “The objective is to guarantee fair access to care and solidarity towards the most vulnerable. The approach is part of the direct implementation of the instructions of the Head of State, issued during his meeting with the National Commission for the Prevention and Control of Cancer,” specified the same source.
This initiative, said the Director General of the CNAS, Nadir Kouadria, is part of the establishment of an organized national process for effective care of children with cancer, thus guaranteeing a better future for these patients. Noting that medical care for these children in hospitals across the country will help reduce transfers abroad and alleviate the suffering of families.
The president of the National Commission for the Prevention and Control of Cancer, Professor Adda Bounedjar, for his part, welcomed this initiative, recalling that it responds to the concerns expressed by the families of sick children and health professionals. “The realization of this convention follows a proposal submitted to the President of the Republic, who gave the green light for its implementation, leading to the creation of a working group between the ministries of Labor, Health and specialized private clinics,” he indicated. On Tuesday, a framework agreement aimed at the care of children with cancer was signed, in Algiers, between the National Social Insurance Fund for Salaried Workers (CNAS) and a number of public and private hospitals specializing in radiotherapy.
