For the first time in Algeria, a unified educational guide intended for the reception structures of early childhood throughout the national territory was disseminated, this Sunday, by the Ministry of National Solidarity, the Family and the condition of women, under the leadership of Minister Soraya Mouloudji, marking a major stage in the organization and professionalization of the sector.
Ms. Mouloudji said that this initiative is in line with the fundamental mission of the State towards her children, stressing that “childhood is not a simple temporary step in the life of an individual but the foundation on which his personality and the future of society are built as a whole”. She also specified, in the preface to this unpublished work, already available on the official page of the ministry, that “taking care of children from a very young age is essential, because it is an investment for the future of the nation, where we want to be strong with our sons and our daughters”.
The Minister said that the guide, elaborated with rigor and consultation, is the expression of a strong conviction, that which each child must be able to grow in a worthy, safe and stimulating environment. Designed to support educators and caregivers in their mission, it provides modern methods, adapted to the specificities of the Algerian child, and offers educational approaches promoting creativity, imagination and learning the values of solidarity and coexistence.
This “unified educational guide” is an extension of the national child protection strategy of childhood, which places the best interests of the child at the center of priorities. Its purpose is to provide all the crèches, children’s gardens and specialized institutions in the country a harmonized framework, guaranteeing coherent educational practices and meeting the psychological, social and educational needs of children in their first years of life.
Thus, more than a technical manual, the guide constitutes a real support tool at the service of global development of early childhood. He endeavors to meet the essential needs of toddlers in all their dimensions, whether psychological, emotional, language, social and motor. The main objective educational activities that it contains have the main objective of awakening curiosity, strengthening imagination, stimulating intellectual and physical capacities, but above all preparing a harmonious transition to schooling.
Ms. Mouloudji argued that the ambition is to make “each reception institution a space for learning and playing, a home of smiles and comfort, in order to prepare our children to become a balanced generation, proud of her identity, sure of herself, capable of building her nation and realizing her dreams within her”, affirming that the role of crèches and gardens of children exceeds that of a simple place of guard.
Education: a constant synergy between school and home
The implementation of this national repository has mobilized many skills. Pedagogues, psychologists, researchers, academics and institutional leaders have combined their expertise to build a coherent document adapted to the realities on the ground. Significant fact, parents’ associations and families of families have also been involved, translating a shared conviction that the education of the child cannot be limited to the institution, but must be based on a constant synergy between the school and the home.
This participative approach is found in the structure of the guide itself, which offers precise monitoring and evaluation mechanisms. These will not only ensure the relevance of teaching practices, but also to measure their real effects on the development of children, in a logic of continuous improvement.
With the adoption of this guide, Algeria takes a new step towards modernization and professionalization of early childhood. It is no longer just a question of “keeping” children, but of supervising them, awakening them and preparing them for school and social life. The proposed methods, scientifically validated and adapted to age groups, align with international standards while integrating national cultural and identity singularity.
This political choice reflects the desire to establish a real culture of quality in supporting children, where the training of educators, the competence of supervisors and permanent evaluation occupy a central place. The Minister summed up this commitment by a strong formula by declaring that “the hand that protects a child, the spirit which watches over his education and the heart which expresses compassion build a more human and more united nation. ».
The ministry said that the document, now made available to all the institutions concerned, is not an end in itself but the starting point for long -term work. Its effective implementation would require progressive appropriation, continuous training of supervisors, careful monitoring of its impact and constant involvement of families. However, its harmonized application, throughout the territory, should gradually strengthen the confidence of parents and guarantee Algerian children the best conditions of awakening and fulfillment.
Through this initiative, Algeria affirms its desire to place early childhood at the heart of its social and educational priorities, aware that it is in these first years that the first aptitudes are forged, that the basics of personality and intelligence are built and that, above all, the contours of the future of an entire generation are taking shape.
