, The CASTEL Batna team is in the semi-finals of the Algerian Cup for the first time in its history. The member of the Nationale Une B achieved an authentic feat by eliminating WA Tlemcen (2-3), Saturday, during the quarter-finals of the popular event. The Kara Zaïtri Imama room in Tlemcen was the scene of one of the most beautiful stories of Dame Coupe, 2024 edition. Indeed, neither logic nor hierarchy had the last word in this unbalanced duel, between a resident of the Nationale Une A and a team from the lower level.
Thus, the protégés of Abdelkrim Djehiche, coach of CASTEL Batna, defied the predictions thanks to a perfect start to the match. Indeed, the visitors took the lead by winning the first set with a score of 20 to 25.
Jostled at the start of the match, the Tlemcéniens reacted very quickly by equalizing at one set everywhere (25-17), before getting back in front of the scoreboard by winning the 3rd set (25-23). However, the visitors had not yet said their last word. Drawing on their reserves, the Yellow and Black found the resources to pick up the score (17-25) and, therefore, force the WAT to go to the tie-break. A final set which smiled on the Aurès boys, winners by 15 points to 13.
In the other quarter-finals, JS Messelmoun took out NRB Ourmes (3-1), the other representative of Nationale Une B, JSC Ouled Adouane flew over the Sétif derby by defeating EF Ain Azel (3 -0), while ES Sétif punched its ticket to the last four by beating MB Béjaïa (1-3).
