Readout: Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, Joined by the United Kingdom Mission to the United Nations, Hosts Display of Lethal Iranian Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Russia Used in Ukraine

Today, Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, Representative of the United States to the United Nations, hosted a display documenting the Islamic Republic of Iran’s transfer of lethal Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) to Russia in violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2231. Subject-matter experts from the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency were on hand to discuss the evidence.

Russia has used these Iran-made drones to target Ukrainian civilians and critical infrastructure. The United States, along with other Security Council members, has long drawn attention to Russia’s use of Iranian UAVs and urged that the UN Secretariat investigate these weapons transfers.

Iranian UAV development and proliferation poses a significant threat to international peace and security. The United States will continue to work with countries around the world to counter and expose Russia’s use of Iranian UAVs against Ukraine.
