ANP weekly report: Surrender of a terrorist and arrest of eight accomplices

The ANP is keeping an eye on things.

A terrorist surrendered to the military authorities of Bordj Badji Mokhtar and eight elements supporting terrorist groups were arrested by detachments of the People’s National Army (ANP) in different operations across the national territory, during the period from November 12 to 18. This was indicated this Wednesday by an operational report from the ANP.

“In the dynamic of sustained efforts in the fight against terrorism and against multifaceted organized crime, units and detachments of the ANP executed, during the period from November 12 to 18, 2025, several operations resulting in quality results which reflect the high professionalism, vigilance and permanent availability of our Armed Forces throughout the national territory,” we read in the press release.

“As part of the fight against terrorism and thanks to the efforts of the ANP units, the terrorist named Tibari Hafez alias Guaassaoui surrendered to the military authorities of Bordj Badji Mokhtar in the 6th Military Region, in his possession a pistol, a Kalashnikov type machine gunner, a quantity of ammunition and other effects,” adds the same source.

As part of the fight against organized crime, combined detachments of the ANP intercepted, in coordination with the various security services, during operations carried out across the military regions, 27 drug traffickers and foiled attempts to introduce more than a quintal of processed kif coming from the borders with Morocco, while 1.4 kg of cocaine and 967,504 psychotropic tablets were seized.

In Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, In Guezzam, Illizi and Djanet, ANP detachments arrested 186 individuals and seized 27 vehicles, 296 generators, 164 jackhammers, as well as quantities of mixture of raw gold and stones and equipment used in illicit gold panning operations, details the press release. Likewise, during separate operations, 14 other individuals were apprehended. The police seized an FMPK type submachine gun, three Kalashnikov type submachine guns, six hunting rifles, 27,440 liters of fuel as well as 10 tonnes of foodstuffs intended for smuggling and speculation, according to the same press release.

The Coast Guard foiled several attempts at illegal emigration on the national coast and rescued 152 people on board homemade boats. Furthermore, 491 illegal immigrants of different nationalities were arrested throughout the national territory.
