The certificates and achievement assessment books for the 2023/2024 school year were presented, Thursday in Algiers, to the parents of primary school students, in an atmosphere marked by joy for the success and the transition of their children to the middle school, after a year marked by efforts and perseverance. In a statement to APS during the ceremony for the presentation of certificates of success, organized at the primary school “El Khansae” in Algiers, the Director of Education of Algiers Center, Ms. Nadia Bentaher indicated that the examination for assessing the achievements of primary school students has proven “its effectiveness”. After highlighting the “good” results recorded last year in the classes of the first year of the middle school, the same official welcomed “the efforts made by the Ministry of National Education, with a view to successfully carrying out the change introduced in the assessment operation which has proven positive in terms of results”. For Ms. Bentaher, the assessment of acquired skills “is not considered an exam, but an assessment of the students’ acquired skills accumulated during their 5 years of study, particularly the fifth year of primary school”, stressing that this assessment “has made it possible to provide a precise description of the student’s abilities without resorting to grading”, and this, through “a global and qualitative assessment of the primary education stage, such as the students’ reading and writing skills, good reasoning and their ability to solve the different exercises”.
In turn, the school administration inspector at the education department of Algiers Center,
Mr. Youcef Boumzoura welcomed “the good results” recorded by the fifth year students in Algiers Center, recalling that the assessment exam took place over three days (from May 12 to 14), with the students taking 6 tests.
