Rencontre interactive régionale à Akbou – Le Jeune Indépendant

More than 1,200 young people from 10 wilayas in the center of the country, affiliated with numerous associative networks and several civil society organizations took part last Thursday in the first interactive regional meeting on active citizenship organized by the National Observatory of Civil Society (ONSC) with the assistance of the “development and human rights” network, the “Algerian-African dialogue and good neighborliness” network, the “environmental protection, climate change” network and the “participatory democracy, social and solidarity economy”.

Placed under the sign “Active citizenship, living society”, this national consultation event of civil society brought together the wilayas of Tizi-Ouzou, Béjaïa, Médéa, Jijel, Bouira, Sétif, Bordj Bou-Arrérridj, M’sila, among others, was held at the stadium of the sports park office (OPOD) in the commune of Akbou (Béjaïa).

Its goal is to “define a permanent mechanism for dialogue and contact between public authorities and citizens through the realization of participatory democracy and the involvement of associations in national socio-economic development”. It is, according to the organizers, “to build through this meeting and the next meetings scheduled in Annaba, Oran, El-Oued, Laghouat, Adrar and Illizi, a strong and cohesive civil society, based on participation and the interaction of citizens in the decision-making process and the implementation of public policies.

According to the president of the APC of Akbou, Mr. Mouloud Salhi, believes that “this grandiose forum will be an invaluable contribution to the socio-economic life of citizens through the experiences of each other”. He will then say that “the relaunch of successful experiences is an essential element of the overall vision in the construction of a strong civil society, its interaction in the decision-making process and the implementation of public policies”.

The wali of Béjaïa Mr. Kamel-Eddine Karbouche underlined during the opening of the event, “the importance given to the local associative movement, to social organizations in particular, the village committees and Tadjmaât during these field visits” . He will say: “this meeting is of capital importance in view of its role in determining the instruments of consultation, discussion, dialogue and participation of the different active forces of society in the life of the nation”.

For the president of the national observatory of civil society Mr. Noureddine Benbraham, “the choice to organize the first interactive meeting in Akbou lies in the fact that the region is a leader in several areas in this case, the economy in through the most important industrial zone in the region, its vital, engaged and relevant civil society.

Benbraham also called on young people to “remain mobilized in order to consolidate the dynamic of national solidarity and support the national socio-economic development strategy”.
