Army General Saïd Chanegriha, chief of staff of the People’s National Army (ANP), said, on the occasion of his working visit to the 2e military region in Oran, where he supervised a night tactical exercise, that all peoples, without exception, have the right to live in peace and to aspire to security and tranquility.

This visit, carried out last Wednesday, is part of the implementation of the combat preparation program, for the 2023/2024 training year and inspection visits to military regions. On this occasion, the ANP chief of staff supervised, Wednesday evening, a night tactical exercise with live fire entitled “Chihab-2024”, at the level of 2e Rdjem Demmouche firing and maneuvering range.

This exercise was executed by units of the 38e Mechanized infantry brigade, supported by units from different forces and technical, air and territorial air defense support units, the Ministry of National Defense said in a statement.

Saïd Chanegriha followed the presentations presented respectively by the commander of the 2e military region and commander of the 38e Mechanized infantry brigade, covering the general idea of ​​the exercise and its execution phases, specified the same source. The army general closely followed the progress of the exercise, which took place at night, in conditions close to real, in accordance with the established plan. He was able to observe the high level of professionalism of the units involved and their perfect mastery of weapons and equipment.

According to the MDN, the objectives of this exercise consisted of “improving the skills of commanders and staffs in the preparation and organization of night combat actions and coordination between the different forces, in addition to providing commanders with units the necessary experience in the conduct of units, through coordination and collaboration between units and elementary units, and to crews further mastery of weapon systems, and to assess operational readiness and capacity to carry out night combat missions successfully, and in all circumstances.”

“The execution of this exercise highlighted the units’ ability to successfully accomplish assigned tasks as well as the crews’ mastery of the high-tech weapons and equipment at their disposal. It also demonstrated the development and operational availability achieved by our armed forces in recent years,” the press release mentioned.

At the end of the exercise, Army General Saïd Chanegriha congratulated the personnel of the units engaged for the enormous efforts they made throughout the year of combat preparation, as well as during the preparation and execution of this exercise. He also valued the results recorded, which were in accordance with the objectives set as well as with the nature of the main missions assigned in the territory of competence.

Previously, Saïd Chanegriha inaugurated the Mesbah central fuel depot. Accompanied by the commander of the 2e military region and central directors of the MDN and the ANP staff, he followed an exhaustive presentation on this important unit, in particular the missions assigned to it in the fuel supply chain for the benefit of the various units and formations of the ANP, deployed in 2e military region.

Army General Chanegriha underlined the importance given by the ANP high command to fuel support units, which are the artery that supplies the battle corps with energy. He also urged the managers and staff of the Mesbah central fuel depot to ensure its rational management and its maintenance in condition to enable it to fully accomplish its assigned missions.

“All people, without exception, have the right to live in peace and to aspire to security and tranquility. This is a right guaranteed by all human laws and countries around the world are working towards this right, ensuring that they build a deterrent defense force. Any right that is not supported by force would therefore be nothing more than a mirage and an unrealistic objective,” underlined the army general.

The ANP works, under the leadership of the President of the Republic, to “give Algeria the power capable of preserving the right of its people to live with dignity, in independence and sovereignty,” he said. added.

Saïd Chanegriha stressed that the ANP ensures the implementation of a global approach which aims to continuously increase the combat capabilities of the battle corps and the strengthening of the defense apparatus of our country, and this through the provision of all the necessary human and material potential. Furthermore, the ANP is working to “develop our combat equipment and modernize our weapon systems so as to enable the ANP to align itself with the accelerated technological development that the armies are experiencing today, across the world,” he added.
