Retour du premier contingent des pèlerins jeudi – Le Jeune Indépendant

The Algerian hajj mission, represented by the Mecca Center, is finalizing the final preparations for the return of pilgrims, starting Thursday.

This was indicated on Tuesday by Youcef Baroud, deputy head of the Mecca Center responsible for reception, accommodation and repatriation.

After having completed all the rites of the hajj, by performing the tawaf al-wadaa, preceded by the tawaf al-ifada and the stoning of the three jamarats, the pilgrims prepare to return from the country.

According to Mr. Baroud, from this Thursday, flights from Jeddah and Medina will begin to repatriate pilgrims in successive waves. In total, 75 rotations are planned from Jeddah and 69 others from Medina, thus making it possible to repatriate all of more than 40,000 Algerian pilgrims.

In order to facilitate the smooth running of operations, the hajis will be prepared for their departure 24 hours in advance, with announcements indicating to pilgrims the bus numbers and departure times for Jeddah or Medina, the same official said on the national radio waves.

He added that pilgrims will be grouped with a maximum of 49 pilgrims per bus, thus ensuring maximum comfort and peace of mind travel.

Logistically, passports will be sorted and baggage transported by dedicated trucks to the airports at least 15 hours before each flight. Pilgrims, for their part, go to the airport 8 hours before their plane takes off to complete baggage check-in procedures and passport control, the same official said.

In addition to these organizational measures, the Algerian hajj mission places emphasis on communication and assistance to pilgrims.

Dedicated teams will be present at airports to answer questions and provide necessary assistance. Mr. Baroud assured that the pilgrim repatriation operation is subject to constant monitoring, in coordination with the different sections.
