The president of the Independent National Authority for Elections (ANIE), Mohamed Charfi revealed, yesterday Wednesday in Algiers, that since the start, last Saturday, of the operation to withdraw signature subscription forms for the anticipated presidential election of September 7, until the day before yesterday Tuesday, one million signature forms had been withdrawn by 14 candidates wishing to run in this electoral deadline. Announcing, on the occasion, that the national electoral body reached 24 million voters , including a million voters from the Algerian diaspora.
Speaking during his appearance on the program ”L’hôte du matin” on Channel I of the National Radio, Mohamed Charfi noted that the legally qualified commissions, with regard to the exceptional revision of the electoral lists , started yesterday Wednesday, will manage the revision of the electoral lists in a legal and orderly manner, recalling that this operation will continue until June 27, as specified by the Presidential Decree convening the electoral body.
Underlining the right of candidates for the upcoming presidential elections to access the electoral lists for the presidential elections after the High Constitutional Court has announced the final electoral list, in order to ensure the integrity and transparency of the electoral process, Mohamed Charfi made know that the body he heads has decided to move towards participatory supervision of the next electoral process, by involving political parties, candidates’ representatives and representatives of civil society, in order to ensure good supervision of the voting operation, emphasizing that participatory democracy is the best way to prove the credibility of electoral processes.
Guest of a program broadcast the evening of the day before yesterday Tuesday on Public Television, the president of the Independent National Electoral Authority (Anie), Mohamed Charfi, returned the evening of the day before yesterday Tuesday on the supervision of the electoral process, affirming that the body he directs ensures the continuing training of supervisors. In addition, he said, to raise awareness among voters of the importance of participating in this democratic event.
“Anie has started its awareness campaign in view of the presidential election of September 7 through posters and advertising spots broadcast through the media, which aim to make voters aware of the importance of participating in this meeting. you crucial election,” he said, calling on political parties, civil society and all stakeholders to participate in the awareness-raising operation. Underlining his body’s attachment to the digitization of subscription forms to combat irresponsible behavior, Mohamed Charfi indicated that any voter can vote for the candidate of their choice in any wilaya without residency conditions. Noting that the achievements of Anie through the electoral deadlines have strengthened the integrity and transparency of the electoral process, and that for the signature collection operation each candidate must collect 50,000 signatures in 29 wilayas, with no less than 1,200 signatures in each wilaya, or 600 recommendations by elected representatives of the APC or APW or the two houses of Parliament.
