Russia’s recent missile attacks on Ukraine’s energy sector on 17 and 28 November have increased the risk of prolonged blackouts in the dead of winter.

Details: The news agency recalls that the Russian Federation launched the second major attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure this month on Thursday, 28 November, causing severe power outages across the country.

After two waves of attacks, the situation with Ukraine’s power grid has deteriorated significantly at a critical point in the war, Reuters writes.

“But now they say the damage inflicted on 17 November and 28 November has set them back significantly, raising the prospect of long blackouts and other outages in the depths of winter. Temperatures are already hovering around 0 Celsius,” the agency writes.

One of the representatives of the energy sector said that despite the difficulties, Ukraine is able to cope with the challenges ahead.
