Elements of the gendarmerie brigade of the commune of Semaoune (Daïra d’Amizour) belonging to the national gendarmerie group of the wilaya of Béjaïa got their hands on 87 cannabis-type drug plants this Monday.
The seizure of Cannabis took place during the search of an individual’s house in the village of El-Ghava. The drug was discovered with the use of the dog team who tracked the house to discover the cannabis planted in large plastic pots, carefully maintained and kept in the courtyard of the house out of sight.
The latter was arrested and taken to the gendarmerie brigade. Legal proceedings were initiated against him and the matter was referred to the courts. The accused was placed in custody and will subsequently be brought before the courts for planting Cannabis and its marketing, among other things.
