More than four quintals of processed kif, coming from Morocco, were seized in one week by combined detachments of the People’s National Army (ANP), in coordination with the various security services, the ministry of National Defense (MDN) in a press release.
During the period from June 20 to 25, “combined detachments of the ANP intercepted, in coordination with the various security services during operations carried out across the military regions, 61 drug traffickers, and foiled attempts to “introduction of 4 quintals and 61 kilograms of processed kif coming from the borders with Morocco”, indicates an operational report made public this Wednesday by the Ministry of National Defense. And to explain that these operations were carried out “as part of the fight against organized crime, and in continuation of sustained efforts aimed at countering the scourge of drug trafficking in our country”.
On the other hand, ANP detachments arrested, in Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar and In Guezzam, “131 individuals and seized 20 vehicles, 68 generators, 47 jackhammers, as well as quantities of gold mixture crude and stones, explosives, detonation tools and equipment used in illicit gold panning operations,” said the same source.
Likewise, “9 other individuals were intercepted and a semi-automatic rifle, 5 hunting rifles, 10,846 liters of fuel, 12 tons of foodstuffs intended for smuggling and speculation and 10 quintals of tobacco were seized during distinct operations across the national territory.
Regarding the fight against terrorism and during a search and combing operation near Amrouna, wilaya of Aïn Defla, “an ANP detachment killed, on June 24, 2024, the terrorist named Benguiza Mustapha, said +Khaled Mazen, who joined the terrorist groups in 2007. The said terrorist had in his possession a Kalashnikov type submachine gun, a quantity of ammunition, a pair of binoculars and various objects,” recalled the same press release.
In the same context, “detachments of the ANP intercepted 03 support elements for terrorist groups during separate operations across the national territory, while 04 homemade bombs were discovered and destroyed in Blida,” added the DND.
For their part, “the Coast Guard foiled, on the national coasts, illegal emigration attempts by 121 individuals aboard artisanal boats, while 736 illegal immigrants of different nationalities were arrested across the country. the territory,” the statement said.
These operations carried out by units and detachments of the ANP, in “the dynamics of sustained efforts in the fight against terrorism and against multifaceted organized crime, units and detachments of the ANP, several operations having resulted in results of quality which reflect the high professionalism, vigilance and permanent availability of our Armed Forces throughout the national territory,” underlined the MDN.
