Saudia plays an active role in promoting sustainability
Saudia Group has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Loop KSA, a leading Saudi company specializing in the circular economy and sustainable waste management solutions.
This agreement establishes the basics of the development of advanced infrastructure to support the practices of the circular economy and for the launch of a global waste management program in the subsidiaries and operations of the Saudia group, with the aim of reducing the group’s carbon footprint.
The protocol was signed by Maryam Telmesani, vice-president of sustainable development at Saudia Group, and Ali Bakhalgi, general manager of Loop.
This partnership will make it possible to assess the current sources of waste and to develop the very first “zero waste” strategy of the Saudia group, supported by recycling initiatives, waste collection and treatment infrastructure, as well as awareness programs for employees and the community. It also includes continuous performance monitoring and preparation for international recycling certification.
During the signature ceremony, around 6,000 cabin staff uniforms were delivered to be recycled, thus marking the first initiative as part of this agreement.
Maryam Telmesani said: “SAUDIA GROUP continues its sustainability strategy, ranging from improving operational efficiency and support for local content to the launch of targeted initiatives and the establishment of global partnerships. These efforts contribute to our objectives of sustainability both within the kingdom and on a global scale. »»
For his part, Ali Bakhalgi commented: “We are proud to associate with Saudia Group for an initiative that will redefine waste management.
