Saudia, the national airline of Saudi Arabia, has been named “The World’s Most Improved Airline” and topped the list of Best Economy Class Airline Service Caterers at the 2024 Skytrax World Airline Awards.
The event was organized by Skytrax, the international air transport rating organization, renowned for its assessment of the global airline industry.
The World Airline Awards are based on an extensive global customer satisfaction survey conducted over several months, covering more than 375 airlines around the world.
In recent years, Saudia has recorded exceptional progress in its rankings, achieving the title of “World’s Most Improved Airline” for the third time. Saudia’s remarkable trajectory has seen it climb from 82nd place in 2017 to 23rd in 2023, reaching 20th position in 2024.
Saudia’s “SHINE” transformation program was crucial to achieving this remarkable achievement, with initiatives focused on improving customer experience, optimizing operational efficiency, and enhancing services and products, followed by the launch of Saudia’s new era of digital transformation and cutting-edge technologies.
These efforts have propelled Saudia into the top ten global airlines for on-time performance throughout 2023, maintaining this position for six consecutive months. Notably, in May 2024, Saudia was ranked among the top five airlines for on-time arrival (OTP-A) and first globally for on-time departure (OTP-D).

Saudia has charted a clear trajectory for its future and strategy, positioning it to achieve top Skytrax rankings in the years to come. This is illustrated by the recent signing of two historic agreements with Boeing and Airbus for the acquisition of 154 new aircraft.
Additionally, Saudia is undertaking a radical overhaul of its passenger cabins, including economy and business class seats, as well as introducing in-flight high-speed internet and upgrading in-flight entertainment screens with the highest resolution in the industry.
