The Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, Saïd Sayoud, chaired, on Saturday, an important working meeting with central executives in the sector, devoted to evaluating the functioning of public services and the implementation of major ministerial projects.
This meeting, held at the ministry’s headquarters at the Government Palace, made it possible to outline the priorities for action within the framework of the orientations of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in particular those linked to monitoring the affairs of citizens, listening to their concerns and supporting national economic dynamics, indicates a press release from the ministry.

Mr. Sayoud underlined the close correlation between sectoral issues and the daily affairs of citizens, insisting on the need to redouble efforts to improve the performance of public services. He called on local officials to demonstrate greater responsiveness and rigor in management, in order to concretely respond to citizens’ aspirations and ensure a more effective local service.
The minister highlighted the importance of monitoring the functioning of local structures on the ground, while ensuring that dysfunctions observed in sensitive areas such as local health, education and the supply of essential goods are immediately corrected.
Regarding the drinking water supply, Mr. Sayoud insisted on the obligation to guarantee a regular supply, with a high level of rigor and discipline.
He ordered local authorities to systematically inform citizens of any disruption to public service, through all available channels, emphasizing the need for transparent and anticipatory communication.
The minister also paid particular attention to the southern wilayas, where he called for measures adapted to regional specificities and a prospective approach to avoid any disruption in supply.
Concerning road projects, he asked to accelerate the pace of completion, particularly in the southern regions, while guaranteeing the flow of traffic during the work. In the same spirit, he insisted on better coordination between technical services in order to optimize execution times and improve the quality of infrastructure.
Referring to the preservation of public security and serenity, Mr. Sayoud reaffirmed that the protection of citizens remains an absolute priority. He praised the effectiveness of security services in the fight against urban violence, while announcing support measures to strengthen the security presence, particularly around schools and universities.
Any attack on citizen security will be dealt with firmly and in accordance with the laws of the Republic, he warned. Addressing the issue of road safety, the minister called for strict application of legal and regulatory measures with a view to reducing the number of accidents and strengthening prevention through awareness and control.
Mr. Sayoud also insisted on the need to maintain a permanent dialogue with local elected officials, as representatives of the people.
He recalled President Tebboune’s instructions relating to the holding of periodic discussion sessions with deputies, in order to encourage constructive consultation and to jointly identify solutions to local problems. As part of improving the living environment, the minister gave strict instructions for the rapid implementation of the decisions resulting from the last meeting devoted to urban cleanliness and the beautification of cities. He ordered a precise inventory of the situation in all wilayas, calling for regular monitoring and concrete actions on the ground to enhance the image of our cities and strengthen the quality of life of citizens.
