Agreements and memorandums of understanding are ready to be signed in several sectors between Algeria and Vietnam as part of the three-day visit of Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, who arrived in Algiers yesterday. The relations described as excellent between the two countries are expected to be consolidated thanks to the various agreements planned.
The announcement of the agreements was made by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry, Kheireddine Benaïssa, in his intervention alongside the Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Construction, Nguyen Tuong Van, during the signing of the minutes at the closing of the works of the 13e the session of the joint commission which ended on Monday.
The planned signatures concern a memorandum of understanding in the sector of housing, town planning and city development between the relevant ministries of the two countries, as well as a memorandum of understanding between the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CACI) and its Vietnamese counterpart,
It is also the signing of a cooperation agreement in the field of education and teaching between the two governments, and a memorandum of understanding between the Houari-Boumediene University of Science and Technology (USTHB) and the Vietnamese Institute of Post and Telecommunications Technology (PTIT), Benaissa indicated.
The 13e session of the joint commission, he said, was culminated by an agreement on practical measures aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in several sectors, including industry, energy, construction, agriculture, tourism, higher education and scientific research, technology, trade and investment.
This session also constituted an opportunity to evaluate the projects carried out and explore new prospects for cooperation, according to Benaïssa, who highlighted the “positive spirit” which marked the discussions and “the depth of mutual trust” between the two parties.
The importance of this session is all the greater, he said, because it comes as a prelude to the visit of the Vietnamese Prime Minister to Algeria (November 18-20), which will constitute “a pivotal stage in the process of our bilateral relations, with the announcement of the renewed strategic partnership between Algeria and Vietnam.”
For his part, Mr. Tuong Van praised, in his speech, the efforts made to strengthen cooperation and “the high sense of responsibility” demonstrated by the delegations of Algerian and Vietnamese experts, welcoming the results obtained, in particular through an agreement on the establishment of practical cooperation mechanisms for the period 2025-2027.
The Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Construction estimated that the new agreements which will be signed in several sectors will contribute to “strengthening economic, scientific and technical cooperation”, as well as “consolidating traditional friendly relations” between his country and Algeria. It should be noted that the joint commission saw the presence of representatives from several sectors of activity, including those of agriculture, hydraulics, agri-food, housing, energy, education and industry, among others. Also represented at this meeting were AAPI, CACI and the Algerian Economic Renewal Council (CREA).
