While traveling in the United Kingdom, the Director General of National Security (DGSN) Mr. Ali Badaoui signed jointly with the British Minister of the Interior a memorandum of understanding on the analysis of electronic fingerprints. According to a press release from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), this ”Memorandum of Understanding” will aim to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Algeria and Great Britain relating to the security of the two countries and to develop the skills of executives and technicians of the Algerian police in the field of advanced analysis of electronic fingerprints. Still and according to the press release from the general management of the DGSN, the signing of this document of understanding took place on the occasion of the recent working visit carried out by the Director General of National Security, Mr. Ali Badaoui, to the United Kingdom, at the head of a police delegation made up of executives from the DGSN, as part of the “strengthening of bilateral cooperation mechanisms in the police field”.
As we explained above, the famous memorandum of understanding was signed by Mr. Badaoui and the British Minister of State for Border Security and Asylum, Mr. Alex Norris, in the presence of the Algerian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Mr. Noureddine Yazid. Under this memorandum, the operational partnership will be “strengthened and the capacities of Algerian police officers and technicians developed in the field of advanced analysis of electronic fingerprints, in addition to the exchange of expertise and knowledge in identity recognition and verification technologies, in line with current challenges and the evolution of modern technologies in this area.”
The DGSN and the accompanying delegation also visited the National Crime Agency (NCA) in London, where they learned about “the United Kingdom’s experience in the fight against crime, as well as the digital systems used by the Agency for the analysis of criminal data and the exchange of information”, exposing on this occasion “the operational approach of the Algerian police in the fight against all forms of crime, in particular transnational organized crime”. The working visit carried out by the DGSN was “an opportunity to strengthen the strong links between the police of the two countries and to expand the frameworks for common cooperation in areas linked to the fight against organized crime and the exchange of operational expertise,” concludes the press release.
