Slovakia may introduce retaliatory measures in response to Ukraine’s decision to block the transit of Russian oil, according to President Peter Pellegrini, as reported by Denník N. Pellegrini emphasized that Bratislava has been supportive of Kyiv, notably through the reversal of gas supplies and the provision of electricity.

Slovak Defense Minister Robert Kaliniak also criticized Ukraine’s actions, warning that Kyiv was “taking a great risk.” The issue stems from Ukraine’s late-June decision to ban the transit of LUKOIL oil through the Druzhba pipeline. This ban significantly impacts Slovakia, as LUKOIL supplies approximately 40-45% of its crude oil imports.
