Sonatrach et Sinopec signent un contrat de raffinage – Le Jeune Indépendant

The national hydrocarbon company Sonatrach and the Chinese company Sinopec Guangzhou Engineering signed a new contract on Monday for the construction of a catalytic processing unit for heavy naphtha at the Arzew refinery. This was indicated on Monday in a press release from Hydrocarbons and Mines.

This contract is part of the strengthening of Algeria’s oil refining capacities, according to the same source, which specifies that the said project will be carried out according to an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract model.

The signing ceremony was chaired by the Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, in the presence of the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Algeria, Dong Guanglie, the President and CEO of the Sonatrach group, Noureddine Daoudi, as well as representatives of the two companies.

The project will be operational on a five-hectare site within the Arzew refinery complex. The completion time is set at 30 months. This unit, with an annual capacity of 738,000 tonnes of heavy naphtha, will increase the refinery’s gasoline production from 550,000 tonnes to 1.2 million tonnes per year. “This major advance will strengthen national gasoline production capacity and meet demand in different regions, particularly in the west and southwest of the country,” estimates the Arkab department.

Sinopec Guangzhou Engineering, a subsidiary of the international Sinopec Group, is a leading company specializing in the construction of industrial facilities for the oil and gas sector. Its extensive experience in engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) makes it a reliable technical partner for strategic projects.
