The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, pleaded for the launch of a Palestinian national project. Speaking on the situation in the Gaza Strip, the Head of State stressed that “the post-war period will be different and requires the mobilization and unification of the ranks of the Arab countries and the energies of the peoples to find a solution.” solution to the conflict. The war against Gaza must lead to the launch of a Palestinian national project,” he said.
For the Head of State, “the post-war period in Gaza must, undeniably, give birth to the Palestinian national project, consisting of the construction of an independent, sovereign Palestinian State, without restrictions, conditions or obstacles of any kind. “, he stressed.
In a speech read on his behalf by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, at the opening of the work of the 33rd session of the Arab Summit in Manama (Bahrain), the President of the Republic indicated that “the Arab Summit is meeting today in a difficult international context and an increasingly complex regional situation, the acute crisis which has hit head-on, international relations now being a reality whose repercussions are felt in the four corners of the world.
The President of the Republic added that “the paralysis of multilateral international action mechanisms, headed by our UN Organization and its central organ, the Security Council, is only further proof of the seriousness of this acute crisis which jeopardizes the present and future of peace, security, development and prosperity in the world”.
Concerning the situation in the Arab region, shaken in particular by conflicts and tensions in Syria, Yemen, Sudan and Libya, the President of the Republic said: “Our Arab region is also going through a pivotal, charged situation. of challenges and crises whose dangerousness and complexity are reflected in the existential threats that await our brothers in Gaza and the dangers facing the Palestinian cause, aimed at its liquidation. »
“Algeria has worked, since its accession to the Security Council, out of loyalty and dedication, to raise the place of the Palestinian cause to the rank of central cause and oldest issue on the agenda of our UN Organization, but also as the most important issue to be placed at the top of the priorities of the international community, and to be supported by mobilizing all necessary efforts, given the place it occupies in the hearts of our peoples,” continued the President of the Republic.
In this context, and in addition to the requirements dictated by the current situation in terms of intensifying pressure to put an end to Israeli aggression, guarantee the delivery of humanitarian aid and stop the deportation of Palestinians, continues the President of the Republic , “our firm conviction, in Algeria, is that the post-war in Gaza must be completely different and opposed to the pre-war, and that the post-war in Gaza calls for the unification of the ranks, the federation of energies and the mobilization of efforts for the relaunch of a settlement of the conflict which is underpinned by just, lasting and definitive bases, in accordance with the international instruments to which the international community has adhered, including references, safeguards and a immutable legality.
According to the Head of State, “the historic decision adopted a few days ago by the UN General Assembly on Palestine reflects, in its content and its objectives, a historical truth, a resounding truth that comes , very fortunately, to recognize the entire international community, namely that the basis of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict consists of the sabotage of the Palestinian national project and that the settlement of this conflict requires the realization of this project and the acceleration of the “building the State of Palestine”.
In the same wake, the President of the Republic reiterated his appeal to the Security Council to “reconsider the admission file of the State of Palestine, allow the international community to redeem itself and seize this opportunity to bring justice to the Palestinian people and enable them to enjoy their rights.”
Regarding the situation in Sudan, Libya, Yemen and other Arab countries, deprived of peace and security, the President of the Republic stressed that “it too calls for an Arab role major which can extinguish the fire of discord between the children of the same country and protect them against the threats and dangers which await them, due to exacerbated and increasingly ferocious foreign interventions.
“The effectiveness of joint Arab action and its efficiency in this particular situation and the major challenges it poses require us to place the Arab League reform file at the top of the priorities, a reform whose urgency is increasingly more pressing,” concluded the President of the Republic.
