Great achievements accomplished.
The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, during his visit to Constantine, presented, to civil society, a strategic vision for the future, between industrial and mining projects, new infrastructure, promotion of youth and cultural development, with the aim of strengthening economic sovereignty, stimulating innovation and asserting Algeria’s international influence.
The President affirmed that “Algeria has recently, and in a short time, accomplished great achievements”, recalling in passing that “the battles and rumors” at the start of his mandate did not succeed in slowing down the march of the new Algeria, during his meeting with the actors of civil society, broadcast in a special program broadcast the evening of the day before yesterday by National Television.
The national economy, he continued, remains “under control” and all indicators are “positive”. “The State has not resorted to external debt despite the drop in oil prices,” he said, adding that this financial prudence made it possible to finance structuring projects and strengthen the economic sovereignty of the country.
The President detailed major mining projects, including the Gara Djebilet iron mine and the Bled El-Hadba phosphate complex. “I will go to Béchar in a month to chair a historic ceremony: for the first time since independence, the iron extracted from Gara Djebilet will be transported via the Tindouf-Béchar railway line,” he announced. A second railway line will transport phosphate to Annaba, increasing national production from 2.5 million to 10.5 million tonnes annually.
In the industrial sector, Tebboune emphasized autonomy and national integration. “We are continuing our efforts to increase the rate of integration of the national industry into the mechanical industry, to achieve the construction of an Algerian vehicle with a rate reaching 40%,” he assured. More than 17,000 projects are being invested, with Constantine’s new industrial zones intended to stimulate the private sector, strengthen local production and create qualified jobs.
In addition, the President highlighted the role of youth in the economic and scientific future, affirming that “competent young people are the true wealth of the country. We must give them a chance, invest in their talents and facilitate the creation of start-ups.” He assured that “all the laws of the Republic have been revised to facilitate the access of young people to decision-making positions and encourage them to get involved in politics”. Maintaining that “the country is built through knowledge and its future is in their hands”, he stressed that the creation of the artificial intelligence university, the first of its kind in Africa and the Arab world, embodies this strategic vision of preparing young people for the challenges of tomorrow’s economy and technological innovation.
Concerning the social aspect, Tebboune recalled the importance of preserving the social character of the State, stressing that “Algeria is the only State in Africa and in the Arab world to grant unemployment benefit. It is essential to maintain this social protection.”
Furthermore, the president also noted the role of culture and tourism in national development in general and in Constantine in particular, announcing that “the State will finance any artistic or cultural event initiated by the cultural movement in Constantine, including the organization of a film festival.” He insisted that “culture and education are essential to form generations”.
Concerning tourism, he affirmed that “the mission of the State is to organize the sector and take incentive measures to attract investors. The wilaya has great potential that must be exploited to carry out tourism projects worthy of its history.” The President mentioned the film project dedicated to Emir Abdelkader, regretting that “to produce a single film on our symbol, we are more than five years behind schedule. The financial resources exist, as do the means, but several parties are trying to monopolize the project.” Faced with these blockages, he declared that “we may be forced to do it with foreigners. It’s full of meaning.”
