The President during the ceremony on November 1st.
On the occasion of the 71st anniversary of the outbreak of the Glorious War of National Liberation, the President of the Republic, Supreme Head of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defense, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, chaired, yesterday, at the People’s Palace in Algiers, the official ceremony of awarding medals to veterans and emblematic figures of the Revolution.
Upon his arrival, the president was welcomed by Army General Saïd Chanegriha, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defense and Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army (ANP). The ceremony began with the playing of the national anthem and the review of detachments representing the different military forces of the ANP, paying tribute to the Head of State.
Just before, President Tebboune gathered at the Martyr’s Sanctuary, an emblematic place of national memory, to honor the Chouhada of the Revolution of November 1, 1954. A wreath of flowers was placed in front of the commemorative stele and the Fatiha of the Holy Quran was recited in memory of the heroes of the glorious struggle for independence.
The meditation ceremony took place in the presence of senior state officials, members of the Government and civil and military personalities, in a climate of solemnity and respect.
