Six terrorists were killed Tuesday evening in Tébessa by detachments of the National People’s Army (ANP), in a large -scale operation which also allowed the recovery of six machine guns of the Kalashnikov type, a large amount of ammunition and other effects. This was said on Wednesday a statement from the Ministry of National Defense (MDN).
This action took place in the Tlidjene area, under the Tébessa military sector, within the 5th military region. It is part of “the dynamics of intense efforts deployed by the various units of our armed forces as part of the fight against terrorism”, specifies the same source.
Shortly after the operation, the army general Said Chanegriha, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defense and chief of staff of the ANP, went to the scene, in the company of General-Major Nour-Eddine Hambli, commander of the 5th military region. He inspected the committed military units and maintained himself with the soldiers who took part in this mission.
The chief of staff welcomed “the courage and bravery” of the military, qualifying their intervention as “heroic”. On this occasion, he sent them “the greetings and congratulations of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, supreme chief of the armed forces and Minister of National Defense”.
In his speech, the general of the army urged staff to “provide more efforts in order to preserve the security of the country and citizens”, and to continue the fight against “the residues of terrorist groups with determination and pride”.
This operation, which is added to a series of qualitative actions already carried out by the ANP, confirms once again “the determination and resolution of the units committed to cleaning our country with the last terrorist homes and to definitively eradicate this scourge”, concludes the press release from the MDN.
Seven quintals of treated kif seized in a week
In an operational assessment covering the period from September 17 to 23, 2025, the ANP defended several attempts to introduce more than seven quintals of treated kif from Moroccan borders. These operations, carried out in coordination with the security services, also led to the arrest of 50 drug traffickers and to the entry of more than 370,000 psychotropic tablets.
In the south of the country, notably in Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, in Salah, in Guezzam and Djanet, 627 individuals involved in illegal gold panning were arrested, with the seizure of dozens of vehicles, generators, hammers and metal detectors.
In addition, other separate operations have enabled the seizure of firearms, fuel intended for smuggling, tobacco, as well as foodstuffs. On the migratory front, the coast guard have thwarted several attempts at clandestine emigration, saving 251 people at sea, while 832 illegal immigrants of different nationalities were arrested across the national territory.
