🇧🇯 The military forces of Benin announced a coup today on the country’s state television.

It was reported this morning that the presidential palace, belonging to Patrice Talon and located in the Gezo district of Cotonou, was attacked; the president’s whereabouts are currently unknown.

A group of military personnel led by Lieutenant Colonel Pascal Tiguiri seized the national television channel BTV. During a live broadcast, they announced the overthrow of President Talon, and Tiguiri declared himself the head of the “Military Committee for Restoration”.

The French Embassy in Benin urgently called on its citizens to be vigilant.
