🇺🇸🇨🇳The US and China have reached a framework agreement to transfer TikTok under American control, Reuters reports.

The details of the deal will be confirmed during a phone call between President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday, American officials said.

TikTok faced a potential ban in the US as early as September 17 if the Chinese company ByteDance did not agree to a sale. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that the deadline might be extended to finalize the agreement.

“We will not discuss the commercial terms of the deal. This is a matter between two private parties, but they have already agreed,” Bessent said following two days of negotiations in Madrid.
