Tizi Ouzou se recueille – Le Jeune Indépendant

As usual, the civil and military authorities, headed by wali Abou Bakkar Essedik Boucetta, as well as members of the revolutionary family, marked the day of October 17, 1961 in a memorable way. Early in the morning this Friday, the wali and the large delegation that accompanied him headed directly to the Chouhadas cemetery in Tizi Ouzou to participate in the meditation ceremony.

This took place, according to the protocol in force, with the raising of colors, the laying of wreaths of flowers at the foot of the stele for the dead and the reading of the Fatiha. In this space of the M’douha museum, the authorities also honored four mujahideen, including two women: Malika Metref, widow of the mujahid Abdelaziz H’mimi, in her capacity as a member of the OCFLN, Aldjia Mouslem, member of the ALN, Hocine Hami, member of the ALN, and Belkacem Tekllal, member of the OCFLN.

Once the ceremony was completed, Abou Bakkar Essedik Boucetta and his delegation headed towards the New Town, more precisely the place of October 11, 1961. On this sacred place, a wreath was laid, followed by the reading of the Fatiha and a minute of silence in memory of our martyrs.

Finally, the procession headed towards the city center towards the Mouloud Mammeri cultural center. In this cultural and scientific space, the delegation visited the stands set up for the occasion, where historical and cultural documents retracing the period of the War of National Liberation were exhibited. This moment was also full of great emotions. The spirit, as if guided by an invisible force, went back in time, reminding everyone that, in the past, war was the main concern of men and women.
