Today, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz signed a declaration defining the Iranian government bank Melli as a terrorist organization, alongside previous declarations on the Central Bank of Iran (CBI), Mellat Bank, and Shahr Bank. This will help thwart one of Iran’s main funding channels of terrorist organizations.

Bank Melli is a state-owned Iranian bank that serves as a central financial arm of the regime, facilitating the transfer of funds to terrorist organizations and helping finance Iranian security forces. Authorities have accused the bank of using an extensive international network to evade sanctions and launder money, while providing accounts and financial services to the Revolutionary Guards and the Quds Force, which are directly involved in supporting and directing militant groups across the Middle East and beyond.

Bank Melli was declared a terrorist organization by the United States already in 2018.
