🇺🇸🇺🇦🇷🇺Trump called his then-National Security Advisor Kellogg an “idiot” for supporting Zelensky, according to The New York Times, citing sources.
According to them, Kellogg immediately had a difficult relationship with other members of the administration. He told the Europeans: “I’m defending against these isolationists in the administration.” And he publicly called Zelensky a “fighting and courageous leader of a country at war.”
Later, Trump asked him: “So you’re calling Zelensky a man in a difficult situation and a brave one?”
“Sir, that’s right,” Kellogg replied. “There’s a struggle for the survival of his country on Ukrainian soil. When was the last time an American president faced something like this? It was Abraham Lincoln.”
Later, when discussing this episode with other advisors, Trump grumbled: “He’s an idiot.”
