Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry summoned Iran’s chargé d’affaires in Ukraine, Shahriar Amouzegar, on Monday, 9 September, in connection with reports of the possible supply of Iranian ballistic missiles to Russia.

Details: The ministry conveyed its “deep concern” to the Iranian diplomat regarding reports that ballistic missiles may have been delivered from Iran to Russia.

It said he was given “a stark warning” about the “devastating and irreparable consequences” of such a step for bilateral relations.
The Foreign Ministry provided no other details.
Background:
- On 6 September, the WSJ reported, citing sources among US and European officials, that Iran had already supplied Russia with short-range ballistic missiles.
- The White House National Security Council said that any transfer of Iranian ballistic missiles to Russia would represent a “dramatic escalation“.
- Earlier, the European Union stated that its allies had provided information about Iran’s transfer of ballistic missiles to Russia for use in the war against Ukraine.
