Like every year, from the beginning of May when temperatures rise significantly, teenagers seek the sensation of freshness by going swimming. Sea, ponds, lakes, hill reservoirs and ponds are taken by storm. And often, unfortunately, without the parents knowing.
This is why the tragedies have become, particularly in recent years, it must be admitted, legion. And in this sense, the town of Draâ Ben Khedda was shaken this Saturday, early in the afternoon, by such a tragedy. This concerns the death by drowning of a young 16-year-old teenager whose lifeless body was recovered by civil protection divers in a hill reservoir located on the south-eastern outskirts of the city.
The victim’s mortal remains were transferred to the EPSP morgue of Draâ Ben Khedda by civil protection to undergo an autopsy. The victim’s disappearance was reported around 11 a.m. Civil protection divers intervened at 11:28 a.m. and the lifeless body was recovered at 12:03 p.m., said a civil protection press release.
It should be noted that in Draâ Ben Khedda, there is only one pond. Moreover, this body of water of approximately 100 square meters is much more like a hill reservoir than a pond since it is the work of man and not of nature. Its water is used for watering crops in the surrounding area. It should also be noted that the surroundings of this hill reservoir are very muddy. Also, daring to venture into the middle of the small body of water is absolutely not recommended.
