Yesterday Tuesday, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Algiers, and during a press conference, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, head of Algerian diplomacy, returned to the results of Algerian diplomacy during his mandate on the Security Council 2024/2025 as a non-permanent member which will end on December 31. An assessment proudly presented by the first representative of Algerian diplomacy, where Ahmed Attaf described it as brilliant. “We are soon reaching the end of Algeria’s mandate on the Security Council as a non-permanent member. I would describe this brilliant journey of Algerian diplomacy as a mandate of loyalty. Throughout our mandate, we have been faithful to the principles of our Arab, Muslim and African belonging, as well as to the Charter of the United Nations, despite bitter rivalries.
“Algeria has fiercely supported, defended and fought for the most vulnerable countries; she participated in the numerous changes to the Security Council and strongly defended the Palestinian cause in a troubling, complex and violent global geopolitical context,” declared, yesterday Tuesday in Algiers, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, during a press conference. According to the head of Algerian diplomacy, Algeria has not deviated, throughout its mandate at the Security Council, from its principles, those of its great revolutionary history and its loyalty to its belonging to the Arab, Muslim and African world, “it returned the money frozen by the Security Council to Libya, it succeeded in internationalizing the Western Sahara file at the Security Council after long years of mist”, said Ahmed Attaf with pride, during a speech delivered yesterday Tuesday to the ministry’s headquarters.
“We are very proud of our record and our obstacle course during our two-year mandate as a non-permanent member. Throughout this period, we have never deviated from the rule of defending the most vulnerable on earth, just as we were behind several changes and participation in resolutions at the UN Security Council. As we take the last step, with total confidence, we will hand over the responsibility to our brothers from Arab and Muslim countries who will soon take up the torch next year,” the head of Algerian diplomacy proudly affirmed. Before concluding his intervention, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, reassured that Algeria will remain a supporter of the causes of oppressed peoples, despite the end of its mandate within the Security Council. This is a principle that honors the glorious history of Algeria and its Martyrs.
