Un blessé et une enquête ouverte – Le Jeune Indépendant

A building on Rabah Moussaoui Street, in Hussein Dey, collapsed during renovation during the night from Friday to Saturday, leaving Bun injured. Local authorities and emergency services were mobilized, while an investigation was opened to determine the exact causes of the disaster.

An old residential building (colonial) partly collapsed, around 2:30 a.m., this Saturday, November 15, at No. 6 rue Rabah Moussaoui, in the commune of Hussein Dey, said a press release from the wilaya of Algiers, adding that “the right part of the building, made up of a ground floor and four floors, completely collapsed.”

Alerted, Civil Protection units subsequently intervened. A first official report shows one injured person, evacuated to the Mustapha Pasha University Hospital. Search operations continued into the early morning, with emergency services indicating that they were “continuing checks due to the possible presence of other victims under the rubble”. Several resources were therefore mobilized, including two rescue trucks, three ambulances, the special GRIMP unit (Reconnaissance and Intervention Group in Perilous Environments) and the dog brigade (trained dog units), according to information provided by civil protection.

“The security services of the wilaya of Algiers immediately went to the scene, with the aim of securing all entrances and access routes, and established a security perimeter to protect citizens,” we read in the press release from the wilaya.

As reported by the same source, the minister-wali of Algiers, Mohamed Abdenour Rabehi, also went there to supervise the operations. He was accompanied by the head of Wilaya Security, the wali delegate of the administrative district of Hussein Dey and the president of the APC.

According to the Wilaya, the residents of the collapsed building were temporarily relocated to a hotel in the area. “As a preventive measure, the families occupying the two adjacent buildings — a total of 27 families — were also evacuated,” she continued. And added: “A technical expertise from the Construction Technical Control Center (CTC) is underway, at the request of the local authorities.”

It should be noted that the first information collected by the wilaya indicates the existence of a private real estate development project, with a building permit n°40/MA/2025, issued on November 5, 2025 by the services of the commune of Hussein Dey. The contractor is said to have carried out digging work “reaching approximately four meters, as close as possible to the structure”, which could be linked to the collapse.

The three buildings concerned had been renovated the previous year as part of the Algiers rehabilitation program, the same source noted. And to conclude: “The case is the subject of an in-depth security investigation in order to determine the exact circumstances of the accident and to take, if necessary, appropriate legal measures.”
