Youth at the center of concerns.
Preparations for the 4th edition of the African Start-up Conference, which will be held next December in Algiers, are at the heart of national priorities. The President of the Republic insisted on the importance of ensuring the success of this major event, which is a continuation of the recommendations resulting from the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF).
The main objective of this conference is to place African youth at the center of concerns. This involves implementing an ambitious roadmap aimed at strengthening exchanges and establishing a lasting communication bridge between young people from different countries on the continent, underlined last Saturday, the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, during the Council of Ministers.
Calling for total mobilization, the Head of State urged all stakeholders to work for the success of this economic meeting dedicated to African youth and innovation. In this sense, it is useful to recall that the President announced, during the IATF, the creation of a Support Fund for African start-ups.
Beyond its role as an exchange platform, the African Start-up Conference is part of a broader strategic vision, which consists of supporting and accompanying the emergence of a solid entrepreneurial ecosystem, in Algeria and across the continent.
Algeria has increased initiatives in recent years to encourage the creation and growth of young innovative companies, aware of their essential contribution to the diversification of the economy and the creation of sustainable jobs. Support systems, support structures and appropriate regulatory frameworks have been put in place in order to promote innovation and attract investors.
On the continental level, the development of start-ups also represents a major lever for meeting the economic and social challenges common to African countries. By stimulating creativity, promoting regional synergies and facilitating access to financing, States seek to build a new generation of entrepreneurs capable of proposing local solutions to local problems. To encourage them, the Fund for financing innovative institutions and young project leaders on an African scale was launched on the sidelines of the previous edition of the Intra-African Trade Fair, an important initiative intended to promote innovation and entrepreneurship of new generations.
During IATF 2025, African start-ups established themselves as key players in the search for solutions adapted to the realities and challenges of the continent. Several young innovative companies highlighted their products and their ambition to expand their presence beyond their national markets, and they were rewarded and recognized during this event.
On this occasion, the Minister of the Knowledge Economy, Start-ups and Microenterprises, Noureddine Ouadah, maintained that the next edition of the African Start-up Conference would strengthen efforts aimed at developing African cooperation in the fields of innovation and technology, by taking advantage of the dynamics recorded at the fair in this area.
Stressing that preparations for this important meeting are underway in order to make the next edition the most important since its launch in 2022, the minister specified that the African Start-up Conference now constitutes “the most important technological event on the continent”.
The African Start-up Conference thus constitutes a unique opportunity to strengthen partnerships, promote African excellence and give increased visibility to promising initiatives. It aims to make Africa a dynamic space of innovation and economic cooperation, driven by the continent’s youth and talents.
