The MDN press release specified that twenty-one elements supporting terrorist groups were apprehended by detachments of the People’s National Army (ANP) during the period from May 1 to 7, 2024. The same press release added, I cites: “In the dynamic of sustained efforts in the fight against terrorism and against multifaceted organized crime, units and detachments of the ANP executed, during the period from May 1 to 7, 2024, several operations leading to results of quality which reflect the high professionalism, vigilance and permanent availability of our Armed Forces throughout the national territory,” indicates the same source. As part of the fight against terrorism, an ANP detachment shot dead, in Bordj Badji Mokhtar, the terrorist named D. Omar, who had in his possession an automatic pistol and a quantity of ammunition. “In addition to the arrest by ANP detachments of 21 elements supporting terrorist groups, during separate operations across the national territory, 7 pillboxes and 9 homemade bombs were discovered and destroyed respectively in Batna and Boumerdès. Furthermore and as part of the fight against organized crime, and in continuity with the sustained efforts aimed at thwarting the scourge of drug trafficking in our country, combined detachments of the ANP intercepted, in coordination with the various security services during operations carried out across the Military Regions, 27 drug traffickers, and foiled attempts to introduce 182 kilograms of processed kif from the borders with Morocco, while 117 grams of cocaine and 36,526 psychotropic tablets were seized. In Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar and In Guezzam, ANP detachments arrested 375 individuals and seized 45 vehicles, 192 generators, 113 jackhammers, 3 metal detectors, as well as quantities of explosives, detonation and equipment used in illicit gold panning operations. Likewise, 16 other individuals were intercepted and 9 hunting rifles, 150,469 liters of fuel, 80 tonnes of foodstuffs intended for smuggling and speculation and 122 quintals of tobacco were seized during separate operations across the national territory. , notes the press release.
