traffic In a quality SCLCO operation

Elements of the Central Service for the Fight against Organized Crime (SCLCO) reporting to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) have just dealt a major blow to arms traffickers by managing to dismantle, at the beginning of the current week, a vast international criminal network specializing in arms smuggling and illicit trafficking. In a press release dated yesterday Wednesday, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) announced the arrest of nine alleged arms traffickers and the elimination of a dangerous network specializing in large-scale arms trafficking, this after a vast, judicious and in-depth investigation carried out by elements of the SCLCO. Following the careful exploitation of detailed information concerning the actions of this criminal network, which engaged in the manufacturing and trafficking of category IV and V weapons without the slightest legal authorization, the elements of the SCLCO and after intense efforts were able to locate the place of weapons manufacturing, a clandestine workshop located in an isolated location somewhere in the country.
During a large-scale operation, successfully carried out, nine suspected traffickers were apprehended while a large consignment of weapons consisting of 124 hunting rifles, 13 shotguns, three firearms, 7,028 cartridges of different calibers, more than a kilogram of gunpowder as well as a sum of money estimated at 10 million dinars and another sum of money in foreign currency and, finally, a utility vehicle used for criminal activities, were seized, said the DGSN information bulletin.
According to the same source, this quality operation carried out against criminal networks demonstrates the extent of the network’s illegal activities. The nine accused in this arms trafficking case are currently behind bars and placed in pre-trial detention, National Security indicated.
A court decision which was necessary given the seriousness of the alleged acts: arms smuggling, illicit arms trafficking, money laundering and the creation of a structured criminal organization. The investigation is still ongoing due to the seriousness of this matter, underlines the DGSN press release. Let us remember, arms trafficking has always been considered and constitutes a strong source of income for criminal networks. Often, they engage in arms trafficking in clandestine workshops through isolated locations, far from attracting the gaze of people and the suspicion of the security services.
