In order to consolidate Algerian-Canadian economic relations, a major economic mission from the Algerian Economic Renewal Council (CREA) traveled to Canada. Numerous meetings with institutions and economic operators in this country are on the agenda of this visit, which will last until July 14.
“A strong delegation of CREA business leaders began an economic mission to Montreal, as part of the celebration of the sixtieth anniversary of diplomatic relations between Algeria and this North American country,” the employers’ organization said, noting the meetings planned as part of this mission, particularly with Canadian economic operators.
The Algerian delegation was welcomed upon its arrival, this Monday, at the new headquarters of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of Quebec, where it was presented with the COREX program, which aims to facilitate and promote trade between Quebec and the states of the Northeast of the United States.
“This program, from which CREA wishes to draw inspiration, allows young exporters to access resources and practical advice to better prepare for the act of exporting,” CREA stated in a press release.
Agreement on a roadmap
In order to give new impetus to economic cooperation between the two countries, especially since promising prospects for cooperation in various fields have been announced, exchanges should be strengthened between the two countries. It is in this direction that the two parties intend to act.
The CREA and the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of Quebec have, in fact, agreed on a roadmap to establish connections between Algerian and Canadian companies, particularly in the agricultural, industrial and mining sectors. The CREA delegation also met with members of the Algerian diaspora who work in the economic sector in order to build ties and celebrate together the 62e independence anniversary.
The delegation also had the opportunity to visit the Technoparc de Montréal, which is a scientific and technological business park with an international vocation, in addition to being a place of research and commercial development that brings together more than a hundred companies.
An Economic Forum, which will bring together Algerian and Canadian companies and where investment opportunities in Algeria will be presented, is planned for today, CREA announced, adding that the rest of the stay will be devoted to “bilateral meetings between CREA and various economic institutions as well as with economic figures who are members of the diaspora.”
A new impetus should be given to Algerian-Canadian economic relations. This is what the Canadian ambassador to Algeria stated, who expressed his country’s desire to redeploy economically in Algeria.
A “real and strong” interest in investing in Algeria was expressed by the ambassador, Michael Callan, during a press conference held on June 12.
