On this occasion, Mr. Tabache indicated to APS that this tour is part of the monitoring of the program for connecting the electricity system between the north and the south of the country, and of the control of the quality of the services offered to citizens.
He added that the province of Djanet has benefited from several programs to strengthen the electricity and natural gas networks, such as the special plan to cover the growing demand for electricity during the summer in the Great South and that of support for the energy sector at the level of the ten new provinces, which requires, he stressed, “permanent monitoring by the group’s executives, in addition to mobilizing all material and human resources to meet the needs of local departments.”
The same official, in this regard, announced that “the Sonelgaz group will soon be strengthened with the recruitment of additional personnel, all positions combined, to be deployed in the wilaya.”
For his part, the local director of Sonelgaz-Distribution, Mabrouk Kastel, revealed that the wilaya of Djanet has been granted important projects aimed at improving public service, such as the connection of the commune of Bordj El Haoues, 140 km north of Djanet, to the natural gas network, the first phase of which has already been completed while awaiting the completion of the necessary procedures for the start of construction of the second phase.
It also involves the acquisition of new modern equipment to strengthen the electricity distribution network, he continued.
The delegation attended a meeting with local authorities, focused on the concerns raised by citizens, before inspecting a power plant with a capacity of 17 megawatts (MW) located in the capital of the wilaya.
The delegation’s program also includes another power plant in Bordj El Haoues which has been equipped with new equipment in order to increase its eclectic production capacity, from 3 MW to 7 MW, according to the explanations provided on site.
This wilaya in the extreme south-east of the country recently benefited from a similar energy installation with a capacity of 3 MW in the locality of Tadjentouert on the outskirts of Djanet, it was also reported from the same source.
